Whose dream isn’t Paris?!
Kate Betts has so far lived a wonderful life. It almost seems fictional. However, I didn’t read this book rolling my eyes at how pretentious the privileged live, but instead think she well deserved it. She was a girl who gets what she wants and doesn’t settle. Very inspiring and her adventure is one that everyone will definitely like to join in on!
This book is a memoir on Kate Betts, a former Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Women’s Wear Daily editor. Not too shabby. She mainly focuses on her twenties in Paris where we are taken a long for a ride going through jobs, love interests, fashion, cooking, homesickness, and beautiful scenery. It truly is just such a stimulating lifestyle that I was envious reading through it.
Of course, if you have no interest in Paris or fashion then put this book aside. It is jam-packed and intertwined with the two. I, personally, love both. However, I only have been to Paris twice and am not much of an elevated dresser, but that is not to say one can’t appreciate its novelty. Both are very fun and unique. I think that is what reading is all about; learning different cultures and interests without having to leave your couch!
A wonderful summer read that really paints a picture of the extravagant. Very fun and light. Also, the beautiful cover that comes in a lot of different color options doesn’t hurt either! I recommend purchasing this hardcover instead of renting from the library. It will make your book case shine!
