“The Trespasser” – Tana French

2.75 out of 4 stars.

Missing the luck of the irish on this one.

Antoinette is a Murder Detective that has taken on the case of a young pretty blonde by the name of Aislinn Murray who was found dead at her home. The bureau received the anonymous  call late at night and she was assigned along with Stephen Moran.  Thank goodness she got paired up with him because everyone else in her unit picks on her behind and in front of her back. Stephen is the only civil member. They both definitely had something to prove with this one.

The likely suspect is the current love interest of Aislinn that was due to rendezvous at the scene of the crime right around the time of the murder. This should be an open and close case with Antoinette and Stephen finally getting the respect they deserve from their teammates. Unfortunately, these two do NOT think it is Rory (cute boyfriend panicking all signs point to him) like everyone else. Whom they think it is I will leave you to read about.

As you can notice, I did not write much of a plot above and that is because there wasn’t one. This book got a low score from me because it is an immense amount of running around and words by Tana French and not a lot of meaning behind them. I was very disappointed. Also, she wrote this novel with a lot of irish slang which in the beginning was fascinating but toward the end it seemed a little overdone. If I hear the word “D” used one more time for the abbreviation of Detective I am going to scream “shite”! A meaningful murder mystery is hard enough to write but in this situation it just seemed like French gave up half way and simply repeated the same paragraphs over and over so the reader wouldn’t noticed. Welp, I noticed!

Not worth your time and a book that will be forgotten soon. I purposely did not post this review on St. Patty’s Day because as a Flynn I did not want to offend my people with my criticism.
